Moving schools from paper registers to an AI-assisted platform, built for SDG 4
An AI-assisted school management platform built for developing education markets across the Middle East, now launching in Pakistan. It takes schools off paper registers and handwritten report cards, flags the students who need attention, and drafts English and Urdu feedback that teachers review and send. Designed around UN Sustainable Development Goal 4, with dedicated access for non-profits and small schools.

The short version
The problem
Most schools in Pakistan still run on paper, and the software that does exist records data without interpreting it.
What we built
A web and mobile school platform that flags at-risk students and drafts English and Urdu feedback for teachers to review.
Where it is now
Demoable end to end on sample data and launching in Pakistan, with non-profits and small schools among the first pilots.
Schools still run on paper, and nothing reads the data
The client
Aqlim is an Innovaxel product, built in-house for developing education markets across the Middle East and launching first in Pakistan. It is our contribution to SDG 4: Quality Education. The brief: make the move off paper worthwhile by giving teachers and school leaders AI-generated insight, not just more data entry, on an architecture that grows from a handful of pilot schools to a full multi-tenant platform without a rebuild. Cost should not be the reason a school stays on paper, so non-profits of any size use Aqlim at cost and can self-host it, and small schools within a defined size range receive it under our SDG 4 commitment.
The problem
Most schools in Pakistan still keep attendance, grades and report cards on paper, and those that have adopted software use it to record data, never to interpret it. A struggling student surfaces only when a teacher happens to notice, parent updates vary in quality from one teacher to the next, and no regional product combines analytics, AI insight, and real English–Urdu bilingual support at a cost that schools and non-profits can sustain.
Small, reviewed slices, built to a finished design
Tight pilot scope
No billing, parent portal, student accounts, offline mode or machine-learned risk scores yet.
Real right-to-left Urdu
Urdu renders right to left throughout, not just as translated strings.
Self-hostable
Standard PostgreSQL, Celery and Redis, fully containerised, so non-profits can run it on their own infrastructure.
How we worked
Design moved from early brand concepts through annotated review rounds to a finished handoff for every core screen, which we then built in React and Material UI to match. Engineering shipped in small, reviewed slices, keeping the student and teacher pages consistent on purpose. Midway through, we switched the AI provider to DeepSeek and validated generation and email delivery end to end in the running app.
Four things we shipped

1Explainable risk flags
Explainable risk engine: weekly red, amber, and green flags from clear attendance and grade-drop thresholds, so teachers can see why a student was flagged
2Bilingual feedback
AI-drafted student feedback and parent messages in English and Urdu (right-to-left), reviewed by the teacher and delivered to guardians by email

3Multi-tenant, fast onboarding
Multi-tenant Django backend with every school's data isolated, plus CSV bulk import with an audit trail for fast onboarding

4Web and mobile for staff
Admin and teacher web app plus a mobile app for entering grades and attendance, with validation that blocks out-of-range or duplicate entries

What happens next
Built and demoable end to end on sample data, and launching in Pakistan. Next comes a pilot-readiness pass (tenant isolation, permissions, Urdu rendering, CSV import), automated tests for the AI pipeline, and a packaged self-hosted install for non-profits. If you run a school, school group or education non-profit in Pakistan or the Middle East and want to be an early pilot, we'd like to hear from you.
Aqlim is built around SDG 4. Non-profit schools of any size use it at cost, contributing only a small maintenance fee, with the option to self-host. Small schools within a defined size range receive it under our SDG 4 commitment.
